Supporting the local community
Community support is a core value at HPW. Throughout 2024, we’re committed to giving back by supporting St Peter’s Hospice, a local charity that provides vital care and support to adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. As part of our efforts, we’ve brought back our beloved tuck shop (much to our employees’ delight!) and established a ‘donation station’ in our office for any preloved clothes, games, books, and more.
We are really looking forward to the opportunity to support and raise funds for this worthy cause!
A fabulous cocktail evening in support of St Peter's Hospice 🍹🍸🍾
Last Friday, we enjoyed a delightful cocktail evening generously hosted by Ray and Sandy at their beautiful home to support the vital work of St Peter’s Hospice. The evening was a resounding success, filled with laughter, delicious drinks and great company.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of HPW employees, the event raised over £600 for the charity! This contribution will go a long way in supporting St Peter’s Hospice, a local organisation that provides compassionate care to those with life-limiting illnesses—a cause that is close to the hearts of so many in our community.
The event was a wonderful way to unwind after the workweek while coming together to make a meaningful difference. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported this special evening. And, of course, a huge thank you to Sandy and Ray for opening their home and making it all possible.
Together, we’ve shown how small gatherings can make a significant impact.
Here’s to many more opportunities to give back while enjoying great moments as a community!
Cakes for a cause: HPW's bake sale raises funds for St Peter’s Hospice
We recently held a delightful cake sale at HPW, raising around £150 for St Peter’s Hospice, our chosen charity.
This event not only brought together our team members but also highlighted their culinary skills and generous spirit. Volunteers baked an impressive array of delicious treats, including classic favorites like chocolate cookies, zesty lemon cake and the ever-popular marshmallow maple cornflake squares. Other noteworthy offerings included rich tiffin and the traditional Italian ciambellone, all of which showcased the creativity and passion of our staff.
The cake sale was a wonderful opportunity to indulge in sweet treats while contributing to a meaningful cause.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who baked, volunteered and supported this initiative.
St Peter’s Hospice Rugby March
The rugby match is an annual event organised by St Peter’s Hospice’s fundraising team, in partnership with Bristol Bears. It includes a sponsored walk over two routes, either 3 or 6 miles, beginning and ending at Ashton Gate Stadium before a Bristol Bears home game.
This year, Jo Willis from our administration team had the privilege of volunteering as a marshal for the walk. After meeting the other volunteers for a briefing at the stadium, Jo was assigned to a designated spot along the course. Fortunately, Jo was placed high on the hill in Ashton Court. The weather was chilly but dry, and the view of the city was delightful—an excellent spot to spend the afternoon.
As the walkers began to pass, the atmosphere grew vibrant and touching. Many participants were walking in memory of friends and loved ones cared for by the hospice, a poignant reminder of the cause that brought everyone together.
Once the last walkers passed Jo’s marshal point, Jo decided to join the back of the walk, enjoying the event's spirit and soaking up the atmosphere. As they neared the stadium, the growing crowds streaming in for the match added to the excitement. Unfortunately, Jo couldn’t stay for the game, which was a shame as Bristol Bears triumphed over Newcastle Falcons with an impressive score of 84-14. It must have been all the good cheer around the stadium that day.

Making a Difference: Our Inspiring Day Volunteering at St. Peter's Hospice warehouse!
We're thrilled to share that we recently volunteered at St. Peter's Hospice, and what a fantastic day it was! We rolled up our sleeves and dove into the action at the Warehouse. It was a day filled with meaningful work and plenty of smiles.
Throughout the day, we pitched in to assist with various tasks, including sorting and organising stock for the Keynsham charity shop. From hanging clothes to steaming them to perfection and even sizing cubing, every task was an opportunity to make a difference.
It was very rewarding and fun! Knowing that our efforts directly contribute to supporting such a vital cause filled us with joy and satisfaction.
We're grateful for the chance to give back, and we're already looking forward to more opportunities to lend a helping hand. Together, we can make a real difference in our community. Thank you to St. Peter's Hospice for this great experience!
